Luke 5:3-7
3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
A Lesson for Christian Bloggers
This passage of scripture jumped out at me, and I thought it was an amazing lesson for each of us as Christian bloggers.
Simon and the others had spent all night fishing only to be left with empty nets.
Maybe you can relate? Maybe you’ve been posting for months on end with little or no traction. Maybe it feels like nothing you have tried is working, but you feel an inkling from the Lord to try again.
To cast your net again. To Have faith and hope as you move forward with His call.
We just never know when a blog post may take off. When we’ll cast our net one last time and be left with a boat overflowing to the brim. All we can do is trust God and move forward when he tells us to cast our net once more.
Joyce Meyer says, “Hope is living with the expectation that something good could happen at any moment”.
Be hopeful each time you post that God will use your God-given words in a powerful way. Be patient as you wait on the Lord and His timing, but stay hopeful!
Blog His Way
We also must be willing to do it His Way. When Jesus told Simon to cast his net once more, the timing was all wrong.
That wasn’t the time of day that they would normally fish. Not only had they been fishing all night only to be left with nothing, but it was now also the wrong timing.
I can just hear myself saying, “But Lord, I’ve already tried that and the timing is all wrong now.” and His gentle reply of, “Try again”.
We must be willing to forgo how the world tells us to do things and be willing to do it the way God is encouraging us to do it. Even if the timing seems all wrong and even if we’ve tried it many times before, we have to trust His way of doing things and be willing to follow His lead.
Cast Your Net Once More
So today as you trudge forward on this great mission of sharing the gospel through blogging, may I encourage you to cast your net once more? You just never know when you’ll be surprised by a boat overflowing to the brim.

Hello there. thank you so much. This has really encouraged me. I am a beginner on blogging. Writing has been my newly discovered passion. I have just completed high school and I am pretty confused right now on how to share my blogs but I trust God through it. It is a learning process. I have a question, which app do you use kindly?
Hi! I am so glad to hear this encouraged you. 🙂 Congrats on starting a blog! It is an amazing journey to go on especially when you have the Lord on your side. Praying you will feel His direction every step of the way. I have had the most success in promoting my blog on Pinterest. It’s a very user-friendly platform for bloggers.
This was such a timely encouragement for me, and I am grateful you decided to write these invaluable lessons and share them also.
Blogging for his way has been the best decision I ever made.
So glad to have you in the blogging community! Keep up the faith! 🙂
This was such a great lesson! As a Christian blogger, this was very encouraging and motivating for when it is difficult and discouraging. Thank you for sharing!
I am so glad to hear this was encouraging! I know it keeps me encouraged on this sometimes challenging journey! 🙂
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this blog. Thank you for the timely encouragement! As you’ve mentioned, blogging is a journey. Over the last few months my blog has been under construction. I look forward to letting down the net again.
I pray God blesses and encourages you as you cast your net once more!! 🙂
What a perfect reminder of our submission to God’s timing. In a results-driven culture we often strive for the badges of the world. Blogging as a Christian always has to be about one person: The reader who sees the light of Christ through the darkness of discouragement. Thank you so much for the comfort this gives when we clutch for the badges instead of staying fixed in the hospitality of the Church.
This is so well said. 🙂 I am so happy to hear you found encouragment here! I pray God continues to propel you forward in all you do. May His hand of grace and favor be upon you. Many blessings to you! -Lauren
